Dashboard

The Dashboard is your home screen in Bifolk. It provides a complete overview of your beekeeping operation with key statistics, alerts, and recent activity.

Target Audience: All Bifolk users

Overview

When you log in, you see the Dashboard with data from your currently selected organization (or all organizations if "All Organizations" is selected).

The Dashboard is divided into several sections: summary statistics cards at the top, an action-required alert section, a hive health overview, and a two-column layout with detailed lists of recent activity.

Welcome Screen for New Users

If your current organization has no hives yet, the Dashboard shows a welcome panel with two options:

  • Import Sample Data -- Load pre-built sample data (hives, queens, inspections, harvests, and more) to explore Bifolk features before entering your own data
  • Create Your First Hive -- Go directly to the hive creation form

This panel disappears once you have at least one hive in the organization.

Statistics Cards

The top row shows four summary cards:

Total Hives

Displays your active hives out of total hives (e.g., "8 / 10" means 8 active out of 10 total). Click View Hives to go to the hive list.

Honey This Year

Shows the total weight of honey harvested in the current calendar year (in kg). Below the main number, you see:

  • Batches: Open batches out of total batches created this year
  • In Stock: Number of jars currently in inventory

Click View Harvests to go to the harvest list.

Sales This Year

Shows total sales revenue for the current calendar year (in euros). Click View Sales to go to the sales list.

Breeding

Shows the count of active breeding projects (queen breeding records that are in progress). Click View Breeding to go to the breeding list.

Action Required

When there are items needing your attention, a yellow-bordered alert panel appears below the statistics cards. It shows up to four alert types:

  • Overdue Operations (red) -- Operations past their scheduled date that are still planned or in progress. Click to view the operations list.
  • Need Inspection (yellow) -- Active hives that have not been inspected in the last 7 days or have never been inspected. Click to view the filtered hive list.
  • Low Stock Items (blue) -- Inventory items where the current quantity is below the configured minimum threshold. Click to view low-stock items.
  • Aging Queens (gray) -- Queens older than 2 years. Click to view the queen list.

This section only appears when at least one of these conditions is present.

Hive Health Overview

Displays the health status distribution of your active hives. Each configured health status (such as excellent, good, fair, poor, critical, or unknown) is shown as a colored badge with its count.

Below the badges, a color-coded progress bar provides a visual representation of the health distribution across all active hives.

A View Health Trend Report link takes you to the detailed health changes report in the Reports section.

Note

If no health status types are configured, a warning message prompts you to configure them in System Configuration.

Upcoming Operations

Shows up to 5 of your next scheduled operations. This includes feeding, treatments, maintenance, and inspections that are either assigned to you or created by you. Each entry shows:

  • The operation type
  • The scheduled date
  • Priority and status badges
  • The associated hive name

Recent Inspections

Shows the 5 most recent hive inspections across your organization(s). Each entry shows:

  • The hive name and inspection date
  • Status badges for key observations (queen seen, eggs seen, disease signs, pests observed)
  • A truncated preview of inspection notes

Click + New to create a new inspection directly from the Dashboard.

Recent Harvests

Shows the 5 most recent harvest records. Each entry shows:

  • The hive name(s) involved in the harvest
  • The harvest date and honey type
  • The weight in kg
  • An Edit button for quick access

This section only appears when you have recorded at least one harvest.

Queen Status

Shows information about your active queens:

  • Total Queens: Count of active queens
  • Age Distribution:
    • Young (less than 1 year old)
    • Prime (1-2 years old)
    • Aging (more than 2 years old)
  • Health: Distribution of queen health statuses, shown as colored badges

This section only appears when you have at least one active queen.

Recent Sales

Shows the 5 most recent product sales. Each entry shows:

  • The customer name (or "Walk-in Customer" if not specified)
  • The sale amount in euros
  • The sale date and payment method
  • An "Unpaid" badge if payment has not been received

This section only appears when you have recorded at least one sale.

Organization Filtering

The Dashboard respects your organization selection:

  • Specific organization selected: Shows data only for that organization
  • "All Organizations" selected: Shows aggregated data across all your organizations

Switch organizations using the organization selector in the sidebar.

Dashboard Notifications

When you view the Dashboard with a specific organization selected, Bifolk automatically checks for alert conditions and creates notifications for:

  • Hives that need inspection
  • Inventory items with low stock

These appear in your Notifications list, accessible via the bell icon in the navigation bar.
